Guns Make Schools Less Safe

The most recent school shooting may make schools even less safe, with talk of arming teachers to defend against potential intruders. While there is currently a 1 in a million chance of being shot in school, shockwaves rippled through our youth, activating them to organize, speak out, and protest an increasingly violent culture. Children must feel safe and loved in order to learn, yet they are more traumatized and anxious than ever, with 1 out of every 4 children attending school being exposed to at least one traumatic event by the time they reach the age of 16. Because fear reduces IQ, guns have no place in schools. Children must feel safe to learn and grow.
